The
artwork of the LIMR gallery is used to educate and increase
awareness of living forms that are investigated in the course
of biomedical research.
Many of the microscopy
images that are generated at LIMR are the byproducts of
biomedical research and are aesthetically beautiful with
interesting lines and stunning colors. It is a visual and
fun way to allow lay people to better understand and appreciate
the cutting edge research that happens at the Lankenau Institute
for Medical Research every day. Most artists draw inspiration
from nature, but scientists use different tools and a very
different approach such as sophisticated microscopes and
a scientific method.
In addition to the
many microscopy images that are displayed, the gallery also
exhibits the abstract work of other artists that may be
perceived as biological forms or inspired by natural elements.
The LIMR Art Gallery
is located on both the Ground and Lower levels of the Nursing
Education Building (NEB) on the Lankenau Hospital Campus.
The NEB holds the administrative offices of LIMR and is
located between the LIMR Laboratories and the Annenberg
Conerence Center for Medical Education. The public is welcome
to view the art during regular business hours: Monday through
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Microscopy images are
also available for sale.
