Dmitri Chamchad, M.D.

Dr. Dmitri Chamchad is Board Certified Anesthesiologist affiliated with Main Line Health Department of Anesthesiology (United Anesthesia Services, PC), and Clinical Assistant Professor at Lankenau Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Chamchad completed Fellowships in Obstetric Anesthesia, Cardiac Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, and Anesthesia Research.

Research

Dr. Chamchad is actively involved in clinical research aimed at making anesthesia safer for patients. In cardiothorathic anesthesia his team investigates novel methods to predict post operative risks of developing cardiac arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm), which is a frequent complication of the open heart surgery. In obstetrics, he is working on ways of predicting and subsequently preventing possible side effects of spinal anesthesia, such as low heart rate and low blood pressure, in women undergoing planned Cesarean section.

He hopes that if possible complications of anesthesia can be predicted prior to surgery, such as abnormal heart rhythm and low blood pressure, they can be minimized or prevented altogether.

Trials currently enrolling:

Heart Rate Variability: Predictor of Cardiac Arrhythmias after Off Pump Coronary Bypass Graft Surgery.

Effect of Glycopyrrolate on Cardiac Autonomic Regulation after Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section. A Randomized Double Blind Placebo Controlled Trial.
