Clinical: Active clinical cardiologist. Interest in atrial fibrillation.

Research Summary:

Dr Ezekowitz is an internationally known cardiologist with special expertise in echocardiology, thrombosis and atrial fibrillation. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr Ezekowitz's basic work has been funded from the NIH and Veterans Administration and he has designed several large clinical trials. One of his most highly cited articles, published in the New England Journal of Medicine (1992), proved that the blood thinning agent Coumadin® protected patients from stroke who had atrial fibrillation. The current focus of Dr. Ezekowitz's research are experimental anti-coagulation and anti-arrhythmic drugs that may provide an important new option for patients that have difficulty with medical treatment with Coumadin® and current anti-arrhythmic agents.
