What kind of research does the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) do?
The Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) is dedicated to advancing an understanding of the causes of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Our scientists perform basic research studies to understand the fundamental problems associated with disease; preclinical and translational research where results are developed into new diagnostics or medications; and clinical research where advances in medicine can be brought to the patient bedside. How is the research at LIMR supported?
How is the research at LIMR supported?
The research done at LIMR is supported by a variety of different sources. We receive funds through: the Lankenau Hospital Foundation; competitive federal grants from the National Institutes of Health and other agencies; State funds through the Keystone Innovation Zone and other sources; private and family foundation grant awards; contracts with other institutions and companies; corporate sponsorship and grants; and gifts from individuals. All of these together help support the important research that takes place here every day.

What is the connection between LIMR and Main Line Health?
What is the connection between LIMR and Main Line Health?
LIMR has their own 501(c)(3) status but is a part of Main Line Health (MLH). In addition to LIMR, MLH consists of four acute-care hospitals, Lankenau, Bryn Mawr, Paoli, and Riddle as well as Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital and Mirmont Treatment Center, various out-patient treatment centers, laboratory services through MLH Labs, the Home Care Network, physician practices through Main line HealthCare, and many other entities. LIMR is part of this dynamic network, adding a critical research component that enables discoveries to move from the bench to the bedside.
