The Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (LIMR) offers funded summer internships for undergraduate students in their freshman, sophomore, or junior years, who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and biomedical research. Interns will receive a $3,200 stipend for an eight-week internship that can be extended to ten weeks with the approval of the mentor.
LIMR encompasses a dynamic group of scientists conducting basic, translational, and clinical research in cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Selected students will have the unique opportunity to work side-by-side with a specific principal investigator, where they conduct hands-on laboratory experiments on an ongoing research project. While students complete challenging experiments, they also learn new concepts and master laboratory techniques. All interns are required to present their research results at Intern Research Day to an audience of LIMR staff, Main Line Health leaders, and other invited guests.
We hope that each student’s experience at LIMR will encourage their interest and enthusiasm in science, solidifying their decision to pursue a medical or research career. It also represents our continued commitment to the education of young people that will be the biomedical researchers and caregivers of tomorrow.
