By activating the "claming reflex," you can soothe even the fussiest baby. Dr. Karp has found that his approach may help prevent breastfeeding failure, postpartum depression, exhaustion, marital stress, and even shaken syndrome. It also helps fathers become more involved with their baby's care and helps them feel more competent and secure. 

&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The fee for the class includes a copy of the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD, a soothing sounds CD and a swaddling blanket. This class provides everything needed to make your baby the happiest baby on the block.

&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Children must be accompanied by an adult. For children between three and seven years old.  &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt; Children must have had the chicken pox or been vaccinated before attending the tour of the maternity unit.

Topics to be discussed and practiced will include birth balls, massage and pressure points, hot and cold therapies, and additional positions and non-medical techniques for comfort and aiding in the progression of labor and birth. Class participants are encouraged to bring 2 bed pillows, a hand or bath towel and a birth ball to class. This class is in addition to the basics taught during Prepared Childbirth classes. Completion at a traditional Prepared Childbirth Series or One Day Class or having given birth within the last 5 years is a pre-requisite to attending this class. Basic breathing and relaxation techniques are not taught during this class.

Fee: $35 per couple
